Abstract

ZENA GIRALDO, Sandra A.; DIAZ BERNAL, Zoe  and  GUTIERREZ REYES, Zoraida de la Caridad. Young university students and un(informed) practices to prevent COVID-19. Lima, Peru. 2021. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2023, vol.42, n.2  Epub May 20, 2023. ISSN 0257-4314.

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, surveys revealed that one in three young people thought they were not at risk of infection. The objective was then to know how a group of university students assumed the recommendations to act against COVID-19. A qualitative research of an exploratory nature was carried out in 2021, with 8 Peruvian university students, who at the time of the study were between 19 and 25 years old. The results showed that the perceptions and practices of the participants were adhered to the messages provided from the beginning by the health authorities: hand hygiene and physical distancing to block infection. The effectiveness of the mask was discredited. The findings of this study highlight that risk behavior in a group of young people is subject to those practices accentuated by the health sector since the start of the pandemic.
