Abstract

ARCE HERNANDEZ, Ada A et al. Alterations of immunoglobulins in patients with Hodgkin disease. Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2003, vol.19, n.1. ISSN 0864-0289.

The concentrations of IgG, IgA and IgM were determined in the serum of 24 adult patients with Hodgkin disease. It was detected a significant decrease (p<0.001) of the 3 immunoglobulins in the total group of patients on comparing them with the normal controls A reduction of the studied immunoglobulins was proved in patients at the most advanced clinical stages, IIIB and IVB. IgG and IgM maintained themselves within the normal limits at stage IIA. IgA did not do so, since it was already reduced. The data obtained in our paper suggest a possible association between the IgG and IgM levels and the spreading of the disease

Keywords : IgA DEFICIENCY [blood]; IgG DEFICIENCY [blood]; IgM DEFICIENCY [blood]; HODGKIN DISEASE [immunology]; NEOPLASM STAGING; COMPLEMENT.
