The participation of the oxidative stress in the pathogeny of male infertility in unquestionable. A considerable number of the patients suffering from this affection have elevated levels of reactive oxygen species, whose presence in semen is a reflex of the unbalance between their production by the cellular elements and their degradation by the antioxidant systems. As a result of this unbalance, the generated lipoperoxides spoil the fertilizing capacity of the spermatozoa. The determination of indicators of oxidative damage and antioxidant defense gives a very useful information on the quality of spermatogenesis and it is also of great value for the diagnosis of the infertility involving the oxidative stress and the selection of patients for antioxidant therapy
