Abstract

This paper presents the biography of American nurse Clara Luisa Mass, who rendered service in Cuba from 1899 to 1901 when she died in the struggle for overcoming the yellow fever. Cuba pays honor to the memory of this martyr of Science by placing a commemorative plaque in "Las Animas" hospital and issuing a commemorative stamp worth 2 cents, of red color and the center in the form of a leave for the one-hundredth anniversary of her death. This stamp was put into circulation on August 24th,1951 by Order no.19 dated August 7th,1951 and three million copies were printed.
