Abstract
LEON ROMAN, Carlos Agustín. General professinal nursing problems in the curricular design. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.1, pp. 1-1. ISSN 1561-2961.
From Florence Nightingale to the present time, several theories of great relevance for the profession and that have promoted the epistemological development of the nursing science have appeared. The theory "Twenty-one Nursing Problems" of Faye Glenn Abdellah caused a trascendental impact in the profession and in the own curricular designs of nursing. Nowadays, several professionals engaged in the training of nursing human resources are redesigning the syllabuses of the specialty. To this end, a documental review was made in the first semester of 2002 that included diverse textbooks, journals, booklets and consultations to experts. The general professional nursing problems that have been proposed will allow to interweave knowledge, abilities and other values necessary for the formation of the professional nursing competences. In this paper, it is exposed a relation between the professional problems and the development of competences, as well as the difference between problem and diagnosis. A practice acquires the scientific rank when its actions are based on theories that have been scientifically developed and they are applied by using a systematic method in the solution of the problems of its competence area.
