Abstract

PENA BORREGO, Maricel et al. Knowledge and behaviors on sexual and reproductive health in adolescents. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.1, pp. 1-1. ISSN 1561-2961.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in 12 urban secondary basic schools of Habana del Este municipality during the academic course 1999-2000. A probabilistic sample of the adolescents object of study was selected by applying a stratified randomized sampling. The school grade was used as a stratification variable. Females and the age group 13-14 predominated in the studied adolescents. Among the main results, it was found that knowledge is adequate and that it corresponds with the behaviors. The role played by the family in the sexual education of adolescents is showed somehow, since a considerable part of them obtained the information from their parents.
