Introduction:

Reflecting on care is necessary to recognize it in the ontological perspective of its existence so that nurses can develop a human and solidary practice, in addition to technical.

Objective:

To present an analytical reflection about the nursing care, in the current health scenario, according the essence of the care of Martin Heidegger.

Methods:

It is a theoretical- reflexive analysis, it constructed from readings about the nursing care available in scientific articles, in electronic databases and with bases on the concept of care proposed by the philosopher Martin Heidegger, in the book: Being and Time.

Conclusions:

That care should be understood as an act that goes beyond technical procedures, there is necessity for the involvement and compromise with the other, that is, must be a humanized action.
