Abstract
DE CARVALHO ALENCAR, Delmo; DO CARMO CAMPOS PEREIRA, Maria and LEITE RANGEL ANDRADE, Elaine Maria. Distance technology for continuing nursing education. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2017, vol.33, n.4 Epub Dec 01, 2017. ISSN 1561-2961.
Introduction:
the effectiveness of online Continuing education can be justified by the flexibility of learning adapted according to the needs of nurses and accessibility at any time and space. This form of Continuing Education has been seen as viable and suitable for the working conditions of most nurses.
Objective:
to verify in literature the distance technologies most used for the continuing education of nurses.
Methods:
integrative literature review, from controlled descriptors; distance education, nursing education, continuing education, and nursing, added by the Boolean operator AND. The search for articles was conducted in the following databases: Lilacs, PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, and in Scielo journals portal, from January of 2005 to April of 2015.
Conclusions:
there were 18 eligible articles published between 2006 and 2015, being fifteen in Brazil and three abroad. As for the evidence level, nine were in level IV, four in Level VI, three in Level III, and two in Level II. Fifteen articles used the AVA as a distance technology for continuing education of nurses, two used the Telenfermagem, and one used a Web site to address different topics. the lack of experimental and quasi-experimental studies regarding the use of distance technologies for nursing continuing education highlights the need to conduct research of this nature on this topic.
