Introduction:

Surgical therapy in minimal access surgery involves different challenges. From the role played by the nursing professional, it is important to master the proper use of instruments and equipment, their management and storage, and the domain of nursing actions to be performed during the perioperative stage. Therefore, it is necessary for both learning and teaching of knowledge about these techniques and procedures used to incorporate new learning resources in line with technological development and the new trends in medical education.

Objective:

To establish the value of using information and communication technologies in the teaching of minimal access surgery in nursing.

Methods:

Bibliographic review of original articles, review articles and printed literature, as well as master's and doctoral theses. The publications, both in Spanish and English, of the 2010-2015 period were analyzed.

Conclusions:

Based on the experience achieved in educational work, there are conditions to incorporate the most innovative information and communication technologies resources, using learning objects for teaching the particularities of minimal access surgery, which will improve the nursing intervention and offer the necessary tools to improve their performance.
