Abstract

PEREZ, A et al. Generation, diffusion and adoption of technologies for the production, cleaning and conservation of seeds from forage plants with an entrepreneurial approach. Pastos y Forrajes [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 0864-0394.

The generation, diffusion and adoption of technologies for the production, cleaning and conservation of seeds from forage plants, are essential for improving the structure of pasturelands in Cuban livestock production, also necessary in most tropical countries. In this sense, the EEPF “Indio Hatuey” developed a set of integral technologies, validated in seed farms, which were accompanied by training and postgraduate study actions, as well as publications. Likewise, in order to promote the diffusion and adoption process a focused-on-the-client and participatory approach, and a group of methods and procedures associated to entrepreneurial and technological management, such as the Excellence Levels of Technologies and Seed Production Farms, which include benchmarking and improvement processes, were developed and/or introduced. Such process was carried out together with the Institute of Research on Pastures and Forages (IIPF), Institute of Animal Science (ICA), Cuban Association of Animal Production (ACPA) and Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI), and in it a group of essential aspects, presented in this work, were considered, such as the conception of innovation in the farm itself, permanent researcher-producer interaction, training, organic production and productive diversification, among others, and the factors that influence remarkably such process were established. With it, the development of the existing farms and the creation of 15 new ones were promoted
