Resumen

CANCHILA, E.R et al. Agronomic evaluation of accessions of Brachiaria spp. under the agroecological conditions of Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia.: II. Second year of evaluation.. Pastos y Forrajes [online]. 2008, vol.31, n.2, pp. 1-1. ISSN 0864-0394.

This research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the agronomic performance (from the second year of production) of a collection of Brachiaria spp. accessions, in order to select those of better adaptation to the agroecological conditions of the Santander region of Barrancabermeja. The cuttings were performed every 42 days, after concluding the first year of evaluation. Plant height, forage production, leaf percentage and disease incidence were determined. According to the MCA the most influencing indicators were: forage production and leaf percentage; no affectations by pests and diseases were present. The accessions B. dictyoneura (CIAT-6133), B. brizantha (CIAT-16488, CIAT-16212, CIAT-16121 and CIAT-16322) and B. decumbens (CIAT-606) stood out for presenting values higher than the population mean; while those of lower adaptation and productivity were: B. ruziziensis CIAT-26180; B. brizantha CIAT-16315, CIAT-16327 and CIAT-6387; B. decumbens CIAT-16497 and B. humidicola CIAT-26159, CIAT-16871, CIAT-16867 and CIAT-26427. To disseminate, progressively, the outstanding accessions for their use in livestock production ecosystems, is recommended.

Palabras clave : Acid soil; Brachiaria spp; evaluation.
