150 patients with family crises from the health area of the village of Boniato, in the municipality of Santiago de Cuba, were studied. The abnormal family functioning predominated among the large families. Most of them had a noxious life style. The family and the couple were the most used supporting networks. Therefore, it is recommended to promote in the community the adequate use of the social supporting networks as powerful stress reducers by assessing family dynamics.
