RODRIGUEZ DOMINGUEZ, Lourdes; HERRERA GOMEZ, Vivian; TORRES PRIETO, Juan M and RAMIREZ PENA, René I. Factores de riesgo asociados con la hipertensión arterial en los trabajadores de la oficina central del MINBAS. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 1997, vol.13, n.5, pp. 474-481. ISSN 1561-3038.
A descriptive study of the total number of hypertensives working at the Ministry of the Basic Industry from January to December, 1995, was conducted aimed at identifying those risk factors favoring the appearance of arterial hypertension and their differences according to sex. The age group 50-59 was the most affected and there was a predominance of the male sex. The family history of arterial hypertension (96.5 %), ischemic cardiopathy (32.60 %) and hypercholesterolemia (30.60 %) were present eventhough their relationship with sex was no significant. Arterial hypertension was markedly connected with obesity in the female sex and with the smoking habit, sedentarism, and the leader occupational category in the male sex.
