An ecological study of temporary trend on the sanitary quality of potable water and its relationship with the morbidity fordigestive transmitted diseases was conducted at the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución from 1992 to the first semester of 1997. Morbidity was obtained from the cronological series of the Municipal Statistics Departament, whereas the data on the quality of water were collected from the registers of the Municipal Enviromental Health Departament. The results were expressed in percentages and indexes and were shown in tables and figures. There were deficiciencies in the potability of water and there was also an increase of the morbidity rates for digestive ly/transmitted disease, mainly hepatitis and acute diarrheal diseases. Puentes Grandes and Plaza were the most critical areas. It as observed a correspondence between morbidity and water potability, where the 19 de Abril and Puentes Grandes areas have the greatest problems.
