RODRIGUEZ DOMINGUEZ, Pedro; BAEZ VILLA, Armando and DOMINGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Juana Elena. Uso de la aspirina en la prevención de la preeclampsia. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2001, vol.17, n.5, pp. 441-445. ISSN 1561-3038.
A prospective study of pregnant women who were diagnosed from January 1st,1996 on and gave birth to their babies up to April 30th,1999, was performed. They were seen at the family physicians office belonging to the basic work teams 1 and 2 from "Milanés" polyclinics and were detected risks of preeclampsia. A daily dose of 60 mg of aspirin was given to the pregnant women in Basic Work Team 1, being this the problem group. Pregnant women of the other basic group did take no aspirin and this was the control group. A number of variables were studied. We concluded that administration of this drug to women with preeclampsia risks brought about a reduction in the incidence of this disease, a lower severity of the process, no effect on mother and child, and the frequencies of retarded intrauterine growth and low birth weight decreased
