A descriptive study was performed on 100 young people from Colon neighborhood in Centro Habana municipality, an area of high incidence of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS in the country. The objective was to find out the knowledge of young people about some aspects of STI and AIDS transmission. For this analysis, the following variables were considered: age, sex, possibilities for contagion, contagion ways, willingness to undergo the exam for HIV diagnosis, confidentiality, reason by which the exam will not be made, the site of the test, the existence of a permanent sexual partner or not. The results yielded that a high percentage of young people accepted the possibility of having had sexual relation in which they could have been caught the AIDS virus resulting from an unprotected sexual intercourse, which might have been the most likely way of contagion.
