Abstract

This paper makes a reflection on a problem to be borne in mind by the health staff taking care of the health and safety and the wellbeing of workers, that is, work-related diseases. At present, Cuba does not exhibit a high incidence rate of professional diseases due to a number of reasons, among them, the logical development of the health care that gives rise to the prevention of these pathologies once the risk factors that determine them are known. However, work and working conditions can also contribute to unspecific morbidity by either causing or worsening processes or acting indirectly through the work-associated lifestyle. We devote our article to these significant diseases that affect our workers on a daily basis, breaking them down in two broad categories of diseases including a group of those that affect the Cuban working population the most.
