Abstract

The need for and the possibility of encouraging the creative thinking of medical students are analyzed and also some elements that theoretically substantiate the development of the creative or side thinking are set forth. The work of Maltese physician and physiologist Edward de Bono is taken into account particularly. Conditions are set up so that the next papers about this topic will explain how to attain creative thinking theoretically and methodologically in the teaching-learning process.
