Abstract
PERNAS GOMEZ, Marta; ARENCIBIA FLORES, Lourdes and ABREU GUERRA, Eddy. Perfeccionamiento del proceso docente en medicina y su posible impacto en la orientación profesional. Educ Med Super [online]. 2001, vol.15, n.3, pp. 117-126. ISSN 0864-2141.
Since more than two decades ago, the formation of physicians worldwide began to be strongly oriented toward the development of the family medicine. Motivations and interests as well as the level of development reached by different countries and regions vary, although some general problems that hinder this development have been identified. In Cuba where the comprehensive program of family physician formation has achieved remarkable success, some of these problems exist and affect the professional orientation of the students. Most of these problems are subjective and may be solved through the improvement of the teaching-educational process within a favorable teaching-care integration context, regardless of other influential factors or variables. The adequate professional performance, the educational work aimed at assuring the match of educational activities at work and the objectives of the professional model in the curriculum as well as the upgrading of the teaching staff to achieve a better understanding of the family medicine are fundamental parts of the improvement of the teaching-educational process aimed at improving the professional orientation of the students.
