Abstract

The first course of the Medical Faculty of Adén started with the cooperation of Cuban professors on November 22, 1974 . The aim of this paper was to explain briefly how this Medical Faculty was created, and its development during the first course with the participation of a group of Cuban professors that were the poineers of internationalist cooperation in the sphere of higher medical education. The difficulties faced due to the lack of material resources and personnel, as well as the achievements obtained in teaching and scientific research that served as the basis of this university centre were described. The support received and the joined work of Cuban and Yemenites that allowed to strengthen even more the friendship ties between both countries were also stressed. .
