Abstract

This research was made in "Raúl González Sánchez" Stomatology Faculty in search of a approaching to problem, the self-appraisal with its double function (evaluating and regulating) take part in regulation of university student behavior, and is a important element in design of its future relevance as regards its professional plans. OBJECTIVE: to diagnose the features showing the self-appraisal of young men, and its role in professional development. METHODS: research is defined as descriptive and exploratory, emphasizing the qualitative analysis of training process, and with the support of the quantitative features. RESULTS: according to the assessment made by individual on general sample, related to self-appraisal contents of their personal features related to its future performance in profession, the 90, 0% recognizes that these features have influence, the 83,3% proposes that even they have to develop personal features needed to achieve the professional development. Analyzing if their personal features may influence on profession development once graduated, the 70, 0% considered that yes, but not the 30,0 %. About if there remain personal features to be developed allowing them a successful performance of their profession in the future, the 83,3 % said yes and the 16,6 % said no. CONCLUSIONS: students have a self-appraisal concerning study sphere and their professional projects are not much developed. There is a determined relation between the development of study psychological trainings and the academic results by students which is the objective of this research.
