The study of work environment of university polyclinic is a real diagnostic element, from the exploration of 4 dimensions, allowing also the take of decision by managers to improve the functioning, and its influence on raising the quality of service offered. OBJECTIVE: To characterize the work environment of university polyclinic of Ciudad de la Habana during 2006 started in 2004-2005 academic course. METHODS: We made a cross-sectional and descriptive research using in this case theoretical and empirical methods as well as statistic procedures including a self-administered survey among professional workers of university polyclinics of Ciudad de La Habana started in 2004-2005 academic course for a total of 21. RESULTS: There was a favorable perception of the leadership and participation dimension; revealing also a low level of motivation and reciprocity. CONCLUSIONS: Work environment of study university polyclinics was characterized from three dimensions: leadership, participation, motivation, and reciprocity. Dimension with poorer results in characterization was the motivation and that with better results was the leadership.
