Abstract

PERNAS GOMEZ, Marta et al. Theoretical-methodological basis of a relevant curricular model for the formation of Bachelors of Nursing in Cuba. Educ Med Super [online]. 2011, vol.25, n.3, pp.283-300. ISSN 0864-2141.

The Ministry of Public Health decided in 2004 that the new curriculum of the Bachelor of Nursing studies should move into the new generation of "D" curricula but preserving the new model of formation that had been introduced the previous year. Given the need of managing a change in the formative processes, the importance of a system of theoretical-methodological bases in place for a relevant curricular model of the university nurse formation under the present conditions was considered. OBJECTIVE: To set the system of theoretical-methodological bases of a relevant curricular model for the formation of university nurses under the current conditions. METHODS: The research used theoretical and empirical methods as well as methodological triangulation to obtain the end result. RESULTS: The theoretical and methodological bases of a curricular model were set. They are directed to growing development of professional skills as early as possible, in line with the present requirements of work performance at any national health care level, and with the current demands of the Cuban contemporary society. They cover the comprehensive development approach to the professional personality according to the social values existing in our country. CONCLUSIONS: The system of theoretical-methodological bases can guide the management of changes in the formative processes of the Bachelor of Nurses studies in addition to permanently preserving the essential traits and the advances in the curricular development under conditions of high variability.
