Knowledge originates from discovery and this, in turn, from research. Every day, the humankind faces situations of risk to its health, a reason why research is an essential tool to advance in the field of science, along with creativity and innovation as fundamental pillars to develop scientific competences in higher education institutions. Therefore, the objective of this article was to review the educational strategies that increase students' interest in science.
