COVID 19 has had an impact on all areas of social and cultural life. The deleterious influence that it has exerted on all educational levels, particularly in higher education, is significant. In the specific case of professional development activities at Centro de Posgrado Hermanos Ameijeiras, the negative effects have been evident. However, the situation generated was, at the same time, an opportunity for the development and consolidation of distance teaching as a modality that allowed maintaining the vitality of teaching and the methodological preparation of professors, in correspondence with the need to guarantee the continuity of studies in contingency situations; therefore, the objective of this article was to expose the effects of the epidemiological contingency caused by COVID-19 on the activity of professional development at Centro de Posgrado Hermanos Ameijeiras.
