Abstract

VALDES LOBO, Raúl L.; ARTILES GRANDA, Diego; RIVERA GONZALEZ, Juan de Dios  and  RUIZ ARMENTEROS, Arturo. External fixation of Keller-Silver technique. Rev Cubana Ortop Traumatol [online]. 1999, vol.13, n.1-2, pp. 77-82. ISSN 1561-3100.

A prospective study of 51 patients with hallux-valgus selected to undergo Keller-Silver technique was conducted. In all cases it was used as a method of contention the piston of 5 orifices of the RALCA® external fixators and 2 L15 threaded wires, one in the proximal phalanx and the other in the metatarsal. Results such as satisfaction degree, elimination of the deformity, pain and limitation of the movements of the metatarsophalangeal joint were analyzed and compared with previous studies. It was possible to preserve the articular mobility and the absence of interphalangeal osteoarthritic changes.

Keywords : HALLUS VALGUS [surgery]; EXTERNAL FIXATORS [utilization.].
