Abstract

The refractive state and complications of 120 eyes from patients operated on of cataract with polymethylmethacrylate intraocular lens implantation were assessed. They were divided into 2 groups for their study. The group A that underwent surgery by the extracapsular crystalline lens extraction technique with discontinuous capsulotomy and intraocular lens implantation; and the group B that was operated on by the crystalline lens phacoemulsification technique with continuous circular capsulorhexis with intraocular lens implantation. A mean spherical ametropia of -2 dioptres was observed in 48 eyes, accountig for 80 %.
