Abstract
GOMEZ CABRERA, Clara G.; SANTOS SILVA, Dania and FALCON MARQUEZ, Iraida. Basocelular eyelid carcinoma. Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2001, vol.14, n.2. ISSN 0864-2176.
A retrospective analysis of 39 patients that were operated on with histological diagnosis of basocelular eyelid carcinoma from February, 1995, to December, 1999, was made. Those patients who underwent surgery without TNM classification were excluded. This tumor was localized in the lower eyelid of 22 patients (56.4 %). The nodular ulcerative variety was present in 27 cases (69.2 %). 34 patients were in stages T1 and T2, 4 in T3 and only 1 in T4. The group of highest incidence was that of the patients aged 50-70. There were no differences as regards sex. The lower eyelid was the prevailing anatomic localization. The clinical nodular ulcerative variety predominated, as well as stages T1 and T2.
