Abstract

CASTRO, Arachu. On the right to health. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2006, vol.32, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3127.

Five ideas on the right to health and on how this right can be approached to be put it into practice are presented. It is based on the fact that health is a need, that access to health should be free, that health care should be focussed where social inequality is greater and not where it is more .profitable in economic terms, that investment in health and education should be prioritized, and that it is indispensable to allot resources to train the health personnel. There is also a wide place for social sciences, from which it can be proved that when health is not considered as a right, social inequality and poverty increase

Keywords : Health as a need; health as a right, inequality; access to services.
