Abstract

BENITEZ HERNANDEZ, Isabel. Ethics of medical and scientific research from the primary health care. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2008, vol.34, n.3. ISSN 0864-3466.

The analysis of the application of ethical principles on the scientific and medical research was made from a historical Cuban and universal perspective, with particular emphasis on primary health care. Within this historical context, it was analyzed how the present development of medical sciences is mainly rooted in the Cuban educational revolution from the literacy campaign to the health revolution program, being Cuban biotechnological revolution and the creation of the scientific complex on the east of Havana important landmarks during this process. The introduction of new concepts in primary health care in the 80`s and of the family physician and nurse model represented new challenges to the scientific and ethical roles of these health professionals, in their position as the first link of the care to the population where the center is man seen as a human being.

Keywords : Ethics; scientific research; primary health care.
