ABSTRACT

Introduction:

The manager of a health facility is responsible for managing and executing the integrated actions within the institution, so, the type of leadership that can exercise in their workers can influence the organizational climate and quality service offered to the patient.

Objective:

To determine the relationship between leadership and organizational climate in workers of health facilities that comprise a micro-network in Peru.

Method:

Cross-sectional and correlational descriptive study carried out in workers of health establishments that comprise a micro-network of the city of Huaraz, Peru. Two valid and reliable questionnaires were applied to the context of the population, to collect the data of interest. The correlation analysis was performed with the Spearman statistician (rs) with a level of significance of 5%.

Results:

Of the total of 88 workers, 54,5% and 55,7% presented high and low transactional and transformational leadership respectively. The level of leadership of the manager of the micro-network was medium (50,0%) and the organizational climate of the workers was to improve (68,2%). The Spearman correlation coefficient (rs) showed a positive and significant relationship between the organizational climate and the transactional leadership (rs = 0,644, p = 0,000) and transformational leadership (rs = 0,660, p = 0,000).

Conclusions:

The relationship between the managerial types of the manager and the organizational climate of the workers is positive and significant, so, the greater the leadership, the better the organizational climate.
