Abstract

PEREZ, J.C  and  SURIS, Moraima. Cycle of life and reproduction of Heliothis virescens (F.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in chickpea. Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2012, vol.27, n.2, pp. 85-89. ISSN 1010-2752.

Results of the biology of Heliothis virescens (F.) on chickpea leaves under laboratory conditions with an average of temperature and relative humidity of 25.7 ± 2.6°C and 68.1 ± 8.44% respectively are presented. The sex of the adults was determined and they were united in pairs. The eggs were collected daily and separated by batch; the number of eggs per batch and per female were recorded. After egg hatching, larvae were individually maintained in Petri dishes until the end of this state. According to the cephalic capsules and exuvias found, six larval instars were confirmed with a duration for females and males of 23.56 and 22.67 days respectively.
