Abstract

GIRALDEZ REYES, Raudel; DIAZ PEREZ, Maidelyn  and  ARMAS PENAS, Dayron. PROInTec: Software for the intelligent processing of patent data. ACIMED [online]. 2008, vol.17, n.5. ISSN 1024-9435.

Among the reductionist techniques that allow the representation of extensive domains of knowledge, we find the cluster analyses, the multidimensional scaling and the factor analyses, as well as other techniques of a more connective approach as the neuronal and social networks.  Each one of these tools, whether individually or combined in indistinct ways, makes possible nowadays the representation of large scientific fields and the making of world-scale maps of science. Among their uses, one of the less common is the presentation of information from the patent records.  Starting from these antecedents, the proGINTEC group developed a new work tool for the conduction of metric studies that enable the processing of patent information.  The PROINTEC software is presented and its main modules of operation, its different interfaces and application functionalities are described. The system was designed to facilitate the integral management of patents: from the automatic download of their full texts to their representation and presentation as technological maps for their analysis and decision making.  PROINTEC is a reliable tool, that does not need to migrate to other systems in none of its phases and that processes the information thoroughly. To this end, powerful data processing tools supported by their extensive use in commercial applications of great coverage and by their capacity to manage large volumes of data were used. Finally, this design was conceived as a modular system that permits a high scaling.

Keywords : Software of patents; patent metric indicators; representation and presentation of patent information; discovery of knowledge in technological databases; knowledge management.
