The scientific production of the health professionals in Archivo Médico de Camagüey journal was characterized from January the 1st 1996 to December 31st, 2007. During this period, 49 issues were published and 10 supplements, with 886 articles of 3 230 authors. A predominance of original articles and case repors with 61.17% and 21.10%, respectively, was observed. The greatest number of published articles were made by a collective; the average of author per article was about 3.60. Surgical and basic specialties were the most proliferous and altogether they accounted for 54.14% of the total of the analyzed production. "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" hospital was the most productive center, followed by the Medical College. 60.74% of the authors were first degree specialists; professionals with teaching rank represented 42.35% of all the authors; and of them, those with instructor and assistant ranks reached almost 30 %. A few publications were signed by professionals with master or scientific degrees. A mild predominance of male authors was found.
