Abstract

A cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out in 65 hypertensive patients of an Urban Health clinic of the Family Physician of "Tula Aguilera" Polyclinic from Camagüey municipality, during l992, with the aim of identifying the repercussion of arterial hypertension comparing it with a control group, through a survey ellaborated according to the efecct the study variables had. Among the most significant results, it was found that 12,3% of the studied hypertnsive patients showed repercussion on their hearing caused by the arterial hypertension (perceptive hypoacusis of vascular type, as well as the frequency and intensity of the presbyacusis was twofold higher in hypertensive patients than in those without hypertension. Finally, it was shown that the Arterial Hypertension occurs in such a way as a cause of the perceptive hypoacusis,as a contributing factor of the presbyacusis.
