Abstract
BALLATE NODALES, Edith M; MARQUEZ FERNANDEZ, Melba; RANKIN BRAVO, Lídice and SALAZAR CHIU, Marosel. Calculation mistakes of the intraocular lens dioptric power. AMC [online]. 1998, vol.2, n.1. ISSN 1025-0255.
Microsurgery results of cataract with implantation of the intraocular lens in the posterior camera, in 137 eyes are assessed through an automatic program. This work has made possible the analysis of different variables that influence on this surgery individually or collectively, as well as the gathering of data in a uniform way. Results of the visual sharpness reached were relevant: 32,12% did not present spherical defect, 31,39% reached the visual sharpness of the unity with dynamic refraction, 16,79% reached a visual sharpness greater than 0,8 and a 9,49% had a visual sharpness greater than 0,5. One hundred percent of the eyes presented residual astigmatism. Different constant variables are defined and assessed which influence on the calculation of the intraocular lens (IOL) dioptric power. Programs are accessible for ophthalmologists who wish to use this technique.
