Abstract

A descriptive, cross-sectional study on home accidents in children among 0 and 9 years old was carried out. The study universe was composed of all children of this age group belongin to "Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz" health area who were assisted because of accidents in the medical health clinic, Main Polyclinic of Emergencies or in the Pediatric Hospital. The primary source of data were the registers of the Centres where patients were assisted. A survey was applied to all of them for collecting necessary data of the investigation wich were given by the parent who took the child to the health clinic. For the preparation of the file and the statistical analysis, MICROSTAT program was used, applying descriptive statistics. Results are shown in Tables. The 61,54% of accidents occurred during the afternoon and the injuries that prevailed were respiratory pathologies, simple trauma, and burnings with 26,92%, 23,08% and 19,23%, respectively. 30,77% occurred in the bedroonn, 23,08% in the kitchen and 4% in the stairs. 69,23% was reported for light injuries; and 29,92 for mild injuries.
