Abstract

HERRERA CRUZ, Niria et al. Hepatopathy in the receptors of renal transplant. AMC [online]. 1999, vol.3, n.2. ISSN 1025-0255.

The hepatic diseases have been distinguished as the principal cause of death in the kidney transplant receptors with more than five years of evolution. To evaluate the hepatic alterations in the receptors of transplant, we studied 32 patients who received renal transplant in our hospital. The infection by HBV and HCV was determined by means of the marker of each one and its relation was found with the time in dialysis and the number of transfusions. Functional hepatic tests and laparoscopes were performed with biopsy of the liver. The diagnosis of the hepatic disease was based on the morphological criteria. Tests were applied to determined the dependence that exists between the presence of hepatopathy and asge, sex, skin color, time in dialysis, number of transfusions received and the time of postransplant. Also the usefulness of viral markers and the hepatic functional testsn are appraised by the hepatic disease diagnosis. It was found that there had been 34 %, 37% and 15, 6% of patients infected with the HBV and HCV respectively without static relation with the time in dialysis nor with the number of transfusions. There had been 44, 4% of the series with liver damage with clear predominance of men (P< 0, 005). The histological pattern most frequent was the chronic persistent hepatitis and the hepatic hemosiderosis. Not even the viral markers studied nor the hepatic functional tests resulted valuable for the diagnosis. It was concluded that the hepatic biopsy is essential in the assessment of these cases.
