A study of death certificate of deceased patiens is carried out in Camaguey Province wilhen the period from 1996 to 1997, both included, and from them we selected those who had as cause of death pulmonary tromboembolism, based on necropsy results. We found pathoclinical correlation in 16,8 %. The higher number of sick patiens were over 60 years old and they belong to masculine sex. Signs and symtoms that prevailed in cases with confirmed clinical diagnosis wer dysnea, tachycardia, cyanosis and shock , and those that prevailed in case of necropsy confirmation were dysnea, fever? qand tachicardia . Predis factors more important were respiratory and cardiovascular disease as well as postoperatory ,ffractures and trombo phlebitis surgical interventions of abdomen were more associate with pulmonary thromboemlism in this study.
