Genomic impronting is a process by which the male and the famele germline confer a sex­specific mark (imprint) on certain chromosomal regions. It is an important mammalian developmental process, incluiding humans, hat expose the necessity of both, maternal and paternal genomes for a normal embrionic development. This phenomena has important implications for chromosomal diseases, childood cancers and other disorders associated with mental retardation. So far, genomic imprinting is not well recognized by doctors. With the aim of bringing up todatein this theme, this review is presented.
