Abstract

A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out in 100 infants of the Nutrition Consultation of the Pediatric Specialities Polyclinic (Camagüey) Nov/97-Junuary/98), selecting infants (N=40) and schoold -children (N=60) for knowing their nutritional assesment, risk factors and the antropometry. There was equivalence for each ontogenic group, factors with greater incidence: undernourished mothers (36 cases), hospital admissions (35 cases) and inadequate breastfeeding (30 patients) in infants the last one prevailed and higher percentage in the tree factors. Nutritional assessment: the current undernourished prevailed with 37 cases 30 out of them were school-children , infants had normal nutrition or with antecedents of undernourishment but normal (13 and 15 cases). Body Weight index: superior in infants with excessive feeding (20.30 Kg/m2) which decreased with the nutritional impairment and with the increasing of age.
