MONNE RODRIGUEZ, Gloria; BASULTO, Blanca; CONDE RAMIREZ, Arturo and SUAREZ MONNE, Denis. Correlation among congenital malformations and infant mortality. AMC [online]. 2001, vol.5, suppl.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1025-0255.
A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in 44 deceased patients with congenital malformations belonging to Nuevitas municipality, Camagüey from 1979 a 1999. The information was collected in a formulary created for the purpose, from clinical records and statiscal files. Data were processed through MICROSTAT statistic program, carrying out frequency distribution in each of the medical tables. An evaluation of the genetic diagnosis was performed in the municipality and we conclude that infant mortality rate for congenital malformations remains elevated. Development of the multidisciplinary genetic consultation is essential with the aim of reducing the incidence of this type of multifactorial desease.
