Abstract
BARRERAS GONZALEZ, Israel et al. Pulmonary thromboembolism incidence in our hospital during three years. AMC [online]. 2002, vol.6, suppl.1, pp. 699-710. ISSN 1025-0255.
A descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed to patients deceased and dissected with pulmonary thromboembolism, aiming at determining clinical - pathological correlation in our hospital during 1996-1999, both included. Diagnosis was confirmed by pathohistological study in 1059 autopsies. We found 292 affections of this type for 27, 5 % out of the total. The greater member of patients were over 50 years old, masculine sex and white. Pre -morten diagnosis was carried out to deceased; cardiovascular, respiratory and operatory diseases were the most frequent predisposing processes. Dyspnea, tachycardia and shock signs were the main clinical manifestations. Thorax radiography and electrocardiogram were helpful in the diagnostic suspicion of this disease. The greater part of cases came from UCIM, UCI and medicine. Heparine was the terapeutic principally used.
