Abstract

A longitudinal, explicative and obervational study was carried out in 120 patients with maxillofacial trauma selected for ambulatory surgery at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital of Camagüey, from february 1998 to February 2001, with the aim assesing this procedure. Patients followed hospital mechanism instituted for the treatment of their surgical pathology. The higher member of patients a found among 25 and 34 years old (47.5 %). Masculine sex prevailed with 59.2 %. The most frequent affection were orbitozigomatic (450 %) and nasal (38.5 %) ractures, surgical, with few postoperatory complications. When these appeared, hematoma (3,3 %) was the most frequent hsopital staying from 1 to 5 hours gave the higher number of cases (37.5 %). There was not unexpected hospitalization maxillofacial trauma may be treated ambulatory with safety and effectivenes.
