Abstract

A descriptive cross-sectional and prospective study carried out so as to know some kidney functional and imaging modifications that occur during pregnancy at the East teaching Polyclinic in Camagüey municipality from January December 1999. The study universe was composed of 27 pregnant women early registered, withoud antecedents of previous kidney affections known at the moment of registration and with less than 13 gestation weekes. Glomerular filtration was estimation in different trimesters of pregnancy and showed a statistically significant increase with the advance of preganancy, possibly related to kidney plasnmatic flow increased and kidney vascular resistence decreased. Kidney sige was measuredin different trimesters of preganancy and there was and increase in its lengih of apprximately 7 mm during the enntire preganacy ligth pyelocaliectasis was statistically significant in the firts and second trimester only half of patients had modifications in the diagnosis ultrasonography.
