Abstract

MONTEAGUDO CANTO, Alina; SALAZAR CUETO, Carlos E; WILLSON ESTEVEZ, Gabriel N  and  VILLALONGA MORA, Yamilet. Clinical behavior of lung cancer during a quinquenium. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.4, pp. 461-469. ISSN 1025-0255.

A descriptive study was carried out at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Provincial Teaching Hospital in all patients diagnoses with primary lung cancer from 1996 to 200 s as to know their clinical behavior. The study universe was composed by 269 patients; information was gathered from clinical charts and was writhen in a survey with the following variables: symptoms and signs most frequent, first symptom, paraneoplasia manifestations, pulmonary localization and metastasis. Coughing, dyspnea and thoracic pain were the most frequent signs, symptoms, and also the clinical forms of presentation most commonly found. The 22 % presented paraneoplasic manifestation: anemia, mental disorder and polyneuropathy. The right lung in its superior lobes were the most affected (49.07) Metastasis had the following frequency order : brain (32,89), mediastinum 827.63 %)and ganglia (17.11 %).
