Abstract

A clinical-phase II essay about the effectiveness of the acupunctural method in the treatment of the Acute Hemorrhagic Conjunctivitis (AHC) from October to November 1997which included 80 patients affected by this disease, from Health Clinic No 35 of "East" Polyclinic of Camagüey Municipality was carried out. These patients were divided into two groups, A and 13 whit 40 patients each. The first one was applied acupunctural treatment during three days in the points previously selected and bleeding in an extraordinary point, the second received conventional treatment. In group A, 90 % of symptoms were eliminated in the first 72 hours, independently of age and sex, while in group 13, only six patients eradicated it. The effectiveness of the acupunctural method was good, which evidences its superiority I relation to the conventional treatment.
