Abstract

ALBORNOZ LOPEZ DEL CASTILLO, Carlos; ZEQUEIRA PENA, Jorge Luis; MERINO LOPEZ, Clemente  and  SIRE GOMEZ, Alexis. The clinical diagnosis and the early detection of oral cancer. AMC [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.5, pp.657-664. ISSN 1025-0255.

Some aspects of the clinical diagnosis and early detection of oral cancer are described in this work. The oral cancer may appear as small white spot or erythematous, a flat ulcer, in exophytic infiltrating on nodular. At present, the most effective via for decreasing the morbimortality of oral cancer is the early diagnosis followed by an adequate treatment. The exfoliation cytology, toluidine blue and lugol are the techniques annexed to the clinical exam which may be used for the early detection of lesions potentially malignant of the oral cavity. It is concluded that odontologists and doctors in general play an important role in the clinical diagnosis and early detection of the oral cancer.
