Abstract

FERNANDEZ MARICHAL, Fernando et al. Vesical schistosomiasis. AMC [online]. 2005, vol.9, n.5, pp. 119-127. ISSN 1025-0255.

The first case schistosomiasis diagnosed and treated in our service, is presented. Fundamental and clinical data for diagnosis, radiologic and cytoscopic characteristics, as well as a good response to prozicuantel therapy, are analyzed. Urogenital schistosomiasis is a type of parasitosis produced by the schistosoma, very rare in our environment and its prevalence increases due to the development of migratory moments. It should be bear in mind when there is sporadic hematuria that affects patients coming from endemic zones or with antecedents of travelling to exotic countries, that is why it is necessary and detailed clinical querry. At present the drug of choice is prozicuantel.
