Abstract

An observational descriptive study was carried out with the aim of knowing home care services in the Basic Work Group # two at Previsora Community Polyclinic from January 1st to June 30th, 2004. The study universe was composed of 165 home admittances preformed at such period. Data were obtained from the Statistic Department of the Polyclinic, medical histories of patients admitted, cost Record Book of hospitals and those in a specific distribution record that included the following variables: age group, sex, morbidity, patient evolution, stage, and treatment received, underlying disease and cost-days patients. All these data were processed by a computer. The 45, 5 % had age between 15-59 years, 60 % corresponded to female sex, 32, 8 % of admissions were due to acute respiratory infections, and 87, 9 % had favorable evolution. Concluding, home stage was fewer than seven days and the economic saving was significant.
